Blind Test - Cosmetic series! 

1st Product : Beauty Oil

As time flies so fast, we already faced winter!

Winter is really cold and dry outside and also at inside, either.

In this environment, a lot of people used to purchase beauty oil 

in order to put sufficient moist on their face and feel moisturizing effect.

There are such a lot of kinds of brand which produce beauty oil.

You may already know as a person who is interested in cosmetic what is the most famous brands of beauty oil!

This is NUXE. 

Although it costs approximately from 20 euro to 30 euro in EU countries 

but in Asia, it used to become much more expensive, it's about 50 euro!

Therefore, a lot of people think that

NUXE Oil is expensive and also really effective oil among other brands.

The comparison target toward NUXE OIL is 

" Kruidvat beauty oil "

It costs 2-3 euro at Kruidvat market.

It is really cheap and also has a characteristic of beauty oil.

People can put this oil to moisturize the skin or minor injury.

We wondered why is there a big gap of price?

What will be the big differences between

NUXE and Kruidvat beauty oil?

We experiment on these two things!

GUESS WHAT WOULD BE THE RESULT?

LET'S GET STARTED!

(1. Sophie,21,student)

We did a blind test.

We just announced that their are two different oils.

and also we did not inform that 

which one is NUXE and which one is Kruidvat beauty oil

Three people who joined this experiment have not used NUXE and Kruidvat beauty oil before.

Now she is comparing NUXE and Kruidvat beauty oil.

<RESULT>

When she rubbed that oil on her hands, there was no big difference between NUXE and Kruidvat beauty oil she said.

There was a relatively small difference.

NUXE was a little bit more liquid than Kruidvat beauty oil.

NUXE was more slippery on her hands.

She closed her eyes and compared two beauty oils.

She dropped one drop of oil on her hands and scrubbed.

and compare the feelings and texture of two things.

 <RESULT>

What she discovered by comparing two oils is that

these two oils have their own smell!

She said the smell was a little bit different.

But she couldn't decide what is better and what is worse.

The smell itself was just the characteristic of the product.

She also closed her eyes and compared two beauty oils 

and dropped one drop of oil on her hands and scrubbed.

and compare the feelings and texture of two things.

<RESULT>

When I ask whether you could feel difference between these two oils or not,

She said

No.

I couldn't feel any difference between them.

When she rubbed that oil on her hands, there was no big difference between NUXE and Kruidvat beauty oil she said, like as Sophie did.

As a result
when we compare NUXE and Kruidvat oil
there are no big difference in terms of quality.
(But there is a big gap of price :) )

and people couldn't distinguish which one is better made oil well!

Beer (Grolsch vs Heineken vs Amstel vs Bavaria)

Do you like beer? Which brand do you like the most? One of the worldwide beer brands, Heineken is made in Netherlands. So many people drink Heineken here in Netherlands. Also, especially here in Enschede, city of eastern part of the Netherlands, Grolsch is the most famous beer brand as it is traditional brand of Enschede. So today, I will introduce some famous beer brands in Netherlands then analyze taste of each beer brand and taste preference of people.

Min (22, Female, Korean)

A) Bitter, and weak taste of beer.

B) More bitter.

C) Feel like light

D) There is no special taste and it is bitter. I don’t like this kind of taste.

Dawin (23, Female, Korean)

A) After I drink it, it is fresh taste and it is relatively sweet. I think it is not expensive as it is watery beer.

B) I don’t like this taste as it is bitter. I think it is not expensive as it is watery beer.

C) It is hard to describe the taste of this beer… as it is just normal beer.

D) It is delicious as it is so like “beer”. I think it is the most expensive one.

Jisoo (23, Female, Korean)

A) It has fresh and sour finish.

B) It is good!

C) It is great! I love it! It is delicious! Homely taste.

D) There is no special taste…. It has no something special taste.

Jane (20, Female, Korean)

A) Bitter.

B) More bitter

C) May be there is more alcohol in it.

D) I like it as it is light beer, watery and taste of barley. I think it is the most expensive one.

Jimin (21, Female, Korean)

A) It is less bitter. It is watery and relatively sweet. I think it is the best among them.

B) I don’t like it, feeling cheap beer.

C) I think there is dense carbonic acid.

D) I think it is expensive beer as have less resistance to it. I think it is not artificial taste feeling heavy.

Unoh (23, Male, Korean)

A) It is bitter and watery. It has strong scent. But it is not that good taste.

B) I am sure that it is Heineken as it has special little bitter taste. I like it

C) It feels good when I drink it.

D) I am sure it is Bavaria as it is terrible. It is too watery. After I drink it, I feel little bitter taste.

Conclusion)

This is overall opinion for each brand.

As you can see, there is little common opinion and it is even opposite to the fact. I was so surprised at this experiment because most of those friends love beers and enjoy it frequently. In fact, it means there is little or no relationship between taste of beer and choice of beer because all of them hate Bavaria as it is not delicious and too cheap. I thought what’s why all companies are sensitive to brand power and price reference. 

Chocolate milk (Coc class choc milk vs Chocomel vs AH choc drink romig)

We did a blind test with those three chocolate flavored milks and asked them for price reference then choosing best one.

A) It tastes like coffee flavor. And it is the first time drinking this kind of chocolate drink. When I drink it, I can feel the chocolate flavor but it faded out now. It could be the most expensive one

B) It is really sweet. I can feel taste of sugar. I think it is the cheapest one.

C) It tastes like “delicious chocolate drink”. It has deep tastes of chocolate

A) It has mild flavor of chocolate but it does not have strong flavor of chocolate. I can feel flavor of coffee. I think it is cheap one.

B) It tastes really sweet. It also tastes like coffee but I don’t know why. I like it very much. I think it is “Chocomel”

C) It is thick but it does not mean that it is thick flavor of chocolate. It has a racy flavor of cocoa. It seems expensive one. I think it is “Chocomel dark”. When I drink it at the first time, I don’t like it but as I drink it over and over, I like it most among these.

A) It tastes like less rich flavor of chocolate. I think it is mixture of water coffee cream and rather than milk. After drink it, I have some unpleasant taste in my mouth. And it is tastes of light.

B) It is sweet but not it do And may be it would be combination of chocolate and milk.

I think it is taste of typical chocolate milk.

C) I think it includes vanilla flavoring. And it could be expensive.

A) It is relatively less sweet as it has low viscosity. And as it is thin, flat, watery, it could be cheap one. When I see the cup, there is less spots of chocolate milk so it could be light one.

B) It is completely different tastes of chocolate milk comparing previous one. More rich taste of chocolate. I like it very much and it could be the most expensive one.

C) I can feel taste of sugar and cocoa rather than chocolate. I don’t like it among these chocolate milk. I think it would be “Chocomel dark”

A) I think there is a lot of water in it, feels like it is pretending “chocolate milk”. There is water instead of water

B) I am sure it is a “Chocomel”. It is sweeter and stronger flavor of chocolate.

C) I think it is “Chocomel dark”. And it is stronger than prior one. I like it best!

Conclusion

Most of the people can recognize which is “Chocomel” because all of them love to drink it. However, there is some gap between price reference and actual price. The reason is that as those people like thick, strong, deep, strong taste of chocolate so they chose A (Coc class choc milk) as cheapest one since it is quite watery. Also, all subjects always drink “Chocomel” only since they believed it has great flavor than any other brands. However, C (AH choc drink romig) was chosen best chocolate milk as it had 3 votes among 5 and B (Chocomel) placed second as it had 2 votes.

COCA COLA VS PEPSI

We carried out a certain blind test with five people.

I prepared two kinds of different brand of coke.

 

These two brands are the most high ranked consumntion

in cola industry.

 

The first one is Coca cola the other one is Pepsi.

 

We wondered that

 

Can they distinguish the taste of Coca cola and Pepsi?

 

So we did an experiment.

 

 

<NOTICE>

 

We prepared three cups.

 

One is Coca cola

Second one is Pepsi.

Third one is water for gargling.

 

 

 

 

LET'S GET STRATRED!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Test subject 1.

When you see that pic,

the left side cup was Coca cola

and the right side cup was Pepsi.

 

<RESULT>

 

The answer was corret!

 

He chose that

the left one is Coca cola

the right one is Pepsi.

 

He could distinguish Cocal cola and Pepsi.

 

He answered that he felt the difference between scent,

and each barnd coke has their own scent.

 

 

Test subject 2.

As you can see in this picture,

the left side cup was Pepsi

and the right side cup was Coca cola.

The answer was corret!

 

She chose that

the left one is Pepsi

the right one is Coca cola.

 

She could distinguish Cocal cola and Pepsi.

 

She answer that she felt the difference based on carbonic acid.

Coca cola one had higher level of cabonic acid she said.

<FINAL RESULT>

 

People who took part in this experiment tend to give right answer

when they distinguish with two kinds of coke.

 

BUT most people give us wrong answer

when they are undergoing an experiment with just one brand.

Although two cups of coke are the same thing, they used to distinguish

this one is coca cola and this one is pepsi!

 

That was really interesting!!!
